The Lock Keeper's Snipe is cool and contemporary, yet cosy and comfy, the design eye of Quince has created a boutique barn that’s pure balm for the soul. Eclectic décor and a long line of luxe touches run through the sun-drenched space that’s a U in its shape, extending out on to a private south-facing courtyard garden and then on into the wilds of the reserve.
Ripe in rich teals and powder pinks, eye-catching artwork and bundles of plush soft furnishings, The Lock Keeper's Snipe showcases boutique barn living at its most comfy. Grand vaulted ceilings and floor-to-ceiling windows flood the single storey barn with sunshine, while the south-facing courtyard is designed for pure relaxing.
Sleep easy in six generously sized super-king size or twin bedrooms overlooking the courtyard – four have ensuite bathrooms, two of them with freestanding baths. All bedrooms have a Quince level of comfort with signature super-comfy beds. A lovely big boot room and gated grounds make it dog friendly, while the dining area and kitchen mingle together to create an easy entertaining space.
With 13 acres of private grounds and access to 760 more in The Nature Reserve, there's plenty of room to roam. Follow winding paths through the meadows to find wooden tables and benches for secret picnics. Climb trees, ride the big swing and uncover hidden hides for the best views over the reserve. And naturally, there's plenty of space for parking too.
The house has fast fibre broadband which makes it ideal as a place to work as well as relax.

On our doorstep is Chimney Meadows Nature Reserve. A veritable vision through the seasons; in spring and summer it simply blooms with wildflowers through lush meadows and woodlands, while ancient water meadows naturally flood through autumn and winter. Perch in the bird hide and come eye-to-eye with our feathered residents, the snipe, curlew and waders.
The Lock Keeper's Snipe is deep in wilds yet mere moments from a clutch of cutesy Cotswolds villages, the Thames Path walking trails and scholastic delights of Oxford. Naturally, there are plenty of country pubs to hunker down in, while the nearest station is 18 miles away.
Like chancing down a rabbit hole in Alice in Wonderland, The Lock Keeper's Snipe is the juicy worm at the end of a long network of single-track lanes. Set in 13 acres of private grounds, with garden team Posy (yes, that's her real name) and John, the setting is lovingly nurtured to be a true feast for the eyes. Wake up to birdsong and drift off to the hoot of the owl, the barn's extraordinary location in a 700-acre nature reserve makes for a seriously mellow escape whatever the season. Happy days.
