Dreaded Supplier Delays
Since my last update we have been hampered by supplier delays and we have been working closely with our brilliant builder to revise priorities and work around the everchanging fulfilment dates but there is only so much that can be done before the building is fully weathertight…
Our windows were ordered in June and programmed for install in August, we now have an install date for the second week in November! Whilst there is lots to be done internally everyone is waiting in the wings as the walls can’t be plastered and the floor can’t be laid until the windows are in, and the larch cladding can’t go on until the windows are in!
Once the floors and windows are in place the bathrooms and kitchen can be fitted, tiling will be completed and the whole house decorated in gorgeous paint and papers …so an awful lot is due to happen in November!
Interior Finishes
Sarah has been working on the interior finishes, with a nod to mid-century design flowing through the property with use of strong colours and an eclectic mix of fabrics, papers and vintage finds tying the whole look together.
Wood is a key feature in this house, we are using a dark wooden floor throughout to really ground and unify the space, as well as wooden slat wall accents for a modern retro feel.
I have been working on the bathroom designs and fittings- injecting fantastic retro colours with tiles from WallsandFloors.co.uk and waterproof slat wall in the family bathroom, from Naturewall.co.uk.
In the kitchen /dining space we have now finalised the kitchen design including some fabulous lights and gorgeous banquette seating, to create a perfect space for cooking and socialising. The living room will have a cozy seating area with fireplace a fantastic sofa from Sofa.com at one end, and an informal reading/cocktail area at the other end, with custom made crittal doors leading through to the kitchen (also currently delayed, by two months!)
Forward Planning
As this house will be a Quince holiday home we are working to a tight deadline to finish the property, ready for professional photography before Christmas – January is our busiest time of year for bookings and we wouldn’t want our guests to miss out on this sparkling new addition to the collection! So, we plan to spend a week on site in December putting in the interior scheme and ensuring everything is just perfect before the new year.
