With autumn arriving ahead of schedule this year, we can’t help but feel excited for crunchy leaves underfoot  and long pub lunches. The trees have begun to drop their leaves and the evenings are drawing in a little earlier than usual, so we’ve rounded up our favourite autumnal stays.

1. Roebucks Rose

Nestled within The Chimney Nature Reserve, explore Roebucks Rose like the curious roe deer it was named after. Take a scenic walk along the Thames path and see which wildlife you can meet along your way. 2. The Boatman’s Reading Rooms

After exploring the historic town of Deal and maybe even braving a dip in the sea, why not grab fish and chips and take in the views from the window seats while the clouds (inevitably) roll in. 3. The Owl Barn

What could be more autumnal than to roost in The Owl Barn at The Chimney Nature Reserve. Whether you’re looking for long walks in the afternoon or fresh and crisp mornings on the private terrace you can really hunker down and enjoy a slower pace of life at this country retreat. 4. The Coding Hut

The Coding Hut is part of the Thorns Beach Estate which was used by SOE (Special Operations Executive) during WWII as a training centre. Nestled between the New Forest heathland and the secluded Park Shore Beach, this cabin sleeps up to six guests and has private access to the beach. Whether you’re looking for a long walk for a pub lunch at the East End Arms or a windy day at the beach complete with a scone and a cup of tea at one of Lymington’s many bakeries, The Coding Hut is a cosy retreat in the heart of Hampshire.

5. The Lock Keepers Snipe

Located on the doorstep of Chimney Nature Reserve, The Lock Keepers Snipe is surrounded by nature and wildlife. In Autumn and Winter the ancient water meadows encourage the Snipe along with plenty of other creatures great and small. This U-shaped converted barn with vaulted ceilings creates a spacious retreat for fourteen guests complete with a stove to cosy up in front of in the evenings.
